Blocked Drain

If you have not noticed already, houses in London have their plumbing systems on the outside of the house, and as such, for Londoners, an outdoor drain is viewed as no different to any other drain in a household, and when it gets blocked, it can be just as problematic and costly as fixing any other drain in a house.

You might see pooling water or flooding in your garden. This is caused by a blocked drain.

What can you do?

Clean out the debris, dirt and waste deposits. This is not a pleasant responsibility, but when living in London, everyone needs to do it, and luckily, it's no different from cleaning out debris, hair and other substances from a tub or sink drain.

If you can not clear a clog after a few attempts, report a description of the problem by filling in a maintenance form.

Please note: The cost of a call-out and to fix the problem will not be covered by Arrive Homes, the owner/agent, or insurance if the blockage is found to be caused by tenants.

Here are some Useful Tips:

Prevent clogged outside drains by clearing out the drain grate often. Create a schedule in the house. Do not wait for flooding to happen before doing anything.

Try One Shot drain cleaner. It’s slightly more expensive, but works really well for stubborn drain blockages.
