Broken Locks

The lock is broken. What can I do?

Locks will break, especially locks that get used often.

If a lock is broken, including any door or window lock, the lock will need to be replaced. Depending on how it got broken will depend on who is responsible for paying the replacement cost.

If the lock has been broken due to the fault of a tenant, then it is the tenant’s responsibility to replace the lock and keys. This includes a key being jammed or broken inside the lock.

If the lock is broken due to fair wear and tear, Arrive Homes will cover the replacement costs. A locksmith will be able to diagnose the problem as well as the cause.

What you need to know:

Not every key cutting store may be able to cut your keys, either because they do not have the proper keys in stock or simply, the ability to cut it to size. Try a few stores in your local area if at first you don't succeed.

Whenever you leave the property unattended, you must lock all the doors and windows and turn on the burglar alarm  (if fitted).

Tell Arrive Homes if the property is going to be empty for more than seven consecutive days.
